USS Rainmaker

Star Trek Intrepid Class ship, coming out of a bright red, purple, white explosion, the hull of the ship is pink in reflective light.

USS Rainmaker NCC-74916

The USS Rainmaker NCC-74916 started life somewhere between June and October of 2000 OOG or 2376 IC  with the registry code of NCC-74661.  She was commissioned by Admiral Coast-Endas the Task Force Commanding Officer of Task Force 86. His explanation of why he named her Rainmaker in his words are:  "As the Intrepid class was very new at the time I found rainmaker fitting. It has an impressive science ability and Medical technology ( fitting with 2 of the dictionary's meanings for Rainmaker. see dictionary.com for details )1

The USS Rainmaker's first Captain is lost in the annals of time, it's sad to say. All I have is the name  Jake Melose. and a time period of August 3, 2001 to November 27, 2002 but that may or may not be the time that the ship was in commission since this is from Internet Archives.2

I have owned the ussrainmaker.org name for over a decade.  It has been attached to a website most of that time.  I am now using it to build this site for my Rainmaker's history as well as a personal library.

Rainmaker FE

FE is Futility End.

FE History:  On January 4th, 2397, the Borg attacked Alpha Centauri with a force of eight vessels. The close proximity of Alpha Centauri to the Sol System prompted Starfleet Command to send what remained of the Fourth Fleet to defend the system. Though the defense was ultimately successful, almost all the Starfleet vessels were destroyed.

Captain Jack Roper

Captain Jack Roper Oct 30, 2003 to  May 17, 2004.  Captain Roper worked his way up to Commodore and TGCO before real life worries had to pull him away from the computer. He was the person that put the dedication plaque quote to the ship.  "What ever you are, be a good one" - Abraham Lincoln

Captain Jonathan Phoenix

Captain Jonathan Phoenix May 20, 2004 to May 20, 2005.  Captain Phoenix Commanded the Rainmaker till again, real life pulled him away for a little to long. His crew left and he could not recruit enough people in the time alloted before the ship was mothballed.

Captain Esteban Maturin

Captain Estaban Maturin  Feb 5, 2006 to May 1, 2009. The Rainmaker was transferred from mothballs in TF-86 to active service when it was realized that Maturin did not have the service time to command a Sovereign class ship.  The registry numbers were found to match those of his TFCO's ship, the USS Horizon. So she was re-registered with the number NCC-74916.   Captain Maturin had the Rainmaker for the first year under the theme of "To Serve and Protect" which was fitting being that the Rainmaker is in TF-58 the Peacekeepers. On her first anniversary she became a Starfleet Corp. of Engineers ship.

In 2015 Starbase Haven was closed and the Rainmaker was shelved.

Captain Mercedes Fernandez

In 2015 Starbase Haven was closed and the Rainmaker was shelved.  In January 2018, I (Vice-Admiral Esteban Maturin ret) started a creative writing sheet for the Rainmaker and some of my younger characters.

Star Base Haven (SB-36)

On May 1, 2009 Rear-Admiral Estaban Maturin retired from Starfleet and the USS Rainmaker was attached to Starbase Thirty-Six (SB Haven) and was under the command of Commander Kate Mevynn, the Executive Officer of the Starbase.
