Preface: In this alternate universe, Cara had heard a call from T'Mar years ago, Cara followed that mental call to the Ancient Waystation, finding a seriously injured Fernandez on the verge of death. T'Mar convince Cara to take her Katra into her mind and save Fernandez. Fernandez had died upon the operating table, but was brought back to life. However, T'Mar's existence in Cara's mind had been hidden. And Fernandez was spirited away for his safety. Time went by, Cara still not knowing she had T'Mar in her mind. Until the barriers that had been placed upon Cara's mind had been released and T'Mar revealed herself. Cara ended up doing research on what to do. She found that a katric vessel could be created and that T'Mar could be placed inside.

An Excerpt from a conversation Cara had with someone:
It takes a special wood, with volcanic glass and crystal from Vulcan. I do not know when it will be ready though. However it had been designed in a specific shape meant for the one who will receive it. I can not tell his name though, as I do not know whom maybe listening in." Nodding towards the mirror, which she knew was that special mirror for someone to watch what was going on. " I have sworn to protect him, and T'Mar. So can't reveal the name."
    End Excerpt

T'Mar had been placed in that katric vessel, Care bidding her farewell. And now the post. Written 10/16/2021 Time to Say Goodbye

    [ON]

T'Mar was now safely transferred into her Katra receptacle, her spirit seeming to light up the specially crafted ship's lantern with a soft glow. Cara had sent out a message to Fernandez through some trusted channels, letting him know that she wanted to meet with him. Cara had been anxious, worried, wondering if Fernandez had gotten her message, then she felt him when he arrived on the station. It took her breath away. There was still the feelings that burned deep within her, from then until now. Tonight though, it was time to let go. Cara was dressed in red, the dress soft, scintillating, the skirt hitting the ankles and slit up one side of her thigh. It was the dress she wore when they had danced together so many years ago, before Cara became Rear Admiral. She still fit in it.

It was a secluded area, the clean scent of pine was in the air, the needles beneath the feet deadened the sound of footsteps. Cara cradled the Katric receptacle in her arms, listening to the sounds of a bird's song. This was where she had set the meeting place for Fernandez to come and pick up T'Mar. Her skin prickled up when she heard him say,

    "Cara"

Cara slowly turned, taking in his familiar form, just only an inch or two taller than she, dark hair done up in its usual braid, his dark brown eyes his gaze so familier. His skin was tanned where the sun kissed it. He had that look of a man who sailed the seas.

"Fernandez." was all Cara could say, her voice like a caress, she catching the scent of the drink he normally had. Rum, tonight it was Captain Morgan's rum, the light scent of Vanilla and other spices.

"Is that her?" Fernandez asked in a soft whisper, moving closer to look at what Cara had designed and was holding.

"Yes it is, Fernandez. I didn't realize I've had her in my mind for so many years. And now...." her voice faded away.

"And now she is set free and so are you." Fernandez simply stated. "I am so sorry, Cara." reaching out to gently brush her cheek, his voice slightly hoarse with emotion, "I do appreciate what you've done."

Cara closed her eyes as he caressed her cheek, feeling what he felt, what Fernandez couldn't really voice as it was his way. She opened her eyes once more. "You are welcome." Tears shimmering in her eyes, causing her dark eyes to glisten like an apache tear in the sunlight.

She reached out to caress his cheek, Fernandez closing his eyes as she did. He knew that she felt what he truly felt. It was their sort of dance, not acknowledging and yet acknowledging. He stepped closer, wrapping his arms around her and in some aspect T'Mar, as Cara was loathe to let go of the receptacle for fear of something happening.

Fernandez chuckled slightly, then softly said, "It will be all right Cara, put her down for the moment okay?" releasing her from his embrace so that she could do so.

Cara gulped and then nodded, moving to put T'Mar near the tree in a safe hollow spot. She then turned to face Fernandez, who immediately pulled her into his arms, holding her tightly. She was shocked when he did this, then her arms crept around his waist, and she held on tightly as well. She had for quite sometime wanted to feel his arms about her, holding her like he was. She could feel the turmoil inside Fernandez, the various emotions that churned around and around. Sorrow, regret, happiness... Love.

His grip loosened, and Fernandez moved to where they were dancing a silent dance, swaying side to side, a few gliding steps their movement in synch. A slight push for her to move away without letting go of his hand, then gently bringing her close to him once more. The dance only lasted a mere few minutes then came to an end, with them looking into each others eyes, then he leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was full of passion, love and also, it was one of goodbye.

Cara was frozen for a slight moment then she responded in return, the kiss ended, with Fernandez seeming to reluctantly release her from his warm embrace, his hand sliding along her arm to her hand then drifting away. It was time. She watched as Fernandez knelt down and picked up T'Mar's receptacle then rose to stand straight. He looked at Cara, and gave a warm smile. "I love it, Cara. "

"To keep your pathway clear and bright, Fernandez." Cara responded, fighting hard to not cry, though a tear still escaped. "Goodbye Fernandez and fair sailing. You and she can finally go home."

Fernandez saw that tear, reached out and brushed it away. "Aye that we can, thank you Cara." pressing his lips to hers once more. ~Don't look back, don't have regrets. Goodbye.~ he thought to her, knowing that she'd pick this up, then he left Cara standing there, in shock. For he'd never done that before.

Fernandez had a rakish grin on his lips as he left, turning back to see her still standing there. Fernandez chuckled, he left her speechless and then he and T'Mar were gone.

Cara could tell they were gone, as she slowly got over the shock of Fernandez voluntarily, mentally communicating with her . Now though, she felt the loss of both of them, feeling an ache in her heart and the feeling of grief. She had to allow herself a period of mourning. Cara knew it was going to hurt, in saying farewell. But it hurt more than what she realized. Cara sank to the ground, pulling her knees up to her chest and sobbed quietly, with her back against the tree. The storm of tears soon abated, and she felt so tired, so emotionally spent, that she just curled up into a ball upon the soft pine needles and fell asleep.
